Lotus Notes typing strange characters like vowels

Similar to the Alt GR screen lock problem i detail on another blog , i had a problem with a user who runs TS Client (MSTSC.EXE) as a published application on XenApp server. They then RDP to their workstation and run their locally installed applications.
This user had a problem that whenever notes timed out and went to the password prompt screen the user was unable to type anything other than vowels, all other keystrokes did not register in the password field. Other applications all worked as normal.

I managed to see this behaviour when the user visited my office and was using a thin client to connect back to his main workstation.

Pressing the ALT key seemed to return the keyboard back to normal for the user in Lotus Notes.

Ive no explanation for this one , only that it works and was an acceptable workaround for this user.
